BLUES & STORYTELLING

Reviving that ancient tradition of sharing stories over music, Dobbins Corner is open every Sunday night for a free storytelling and blues celebration. Whether it’s our 5@5 house blues band, or guest musicians, each week is a treat. Bring your talent, your kid, a story, and a friend, and come on by. We highlight a different community cause each week with 100% donations delivered to that cause. See who’s playing>> Just drop in or email Rob Lanford blues@epworthatcandlerpark.org.

BEING OF SERVICE

The beauty of a community is its ability to respond in times of need. With active support through volunteering and donations, we invite you to join us at Clifton Sanctuary Ministries, Action Ministries, and Intown Collaborative Ministries, become Project Linus “blanketeers”, or collect pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House. We help our local community respond to crisis abroad through gathering UMCOR Haiti Health Care Kits, sponsoring an annual Heifer International Valentines Goat Project, sending joy with Operation Christmas Child, and so much more!  Take a look…

CLIFTON SANCTUARY

Epworth and Clifton are old friends. The choir makes weekly lunches for the Clifton men and joins monthly in hosting dinner. Our annual Thanksgiving celebration remembers when Clifton was Epworth’s guest as the shelter was rebuilt. In 2005, an arsonist set fire to Clifton. With assistance from the Mayor’s office, we housed the 30-bed shelter and provided staff offices during the 18-month reconstruction. As Pastor Lisa says, “It’s our privilege to support the effective and life-giving ministry that Clifton offers. Together, we are committed to bring hope, life, and God’s grace to those we are blessed to serve. Clifton is a model for breaking the cycle of homelessness.” Curious? >> Tag along on our next visit to Clifton.

CHILD ADVOCACY

We’ve joined the Interfaith Children’s Movement (ICM) fighting to end child prostitution and help kids recover from horrendous abuse. It’s not a pretty subject, but it is devastatingly real. Metropolitan Atlanta is a national hub for child prostitution. When arrested, limited resources send trafficked children to juvenile detention centers. Commercially sexually exploited children need therapeutic services to reconstruct their lives and to build a future…not a past. ICM works to increase recovery resources, including safe room & board, case management, education, psychological treatment, and rehabilitation. It is time to reduce – ultimately eliminate – child prostitution in Georgia. What you can do>> contact your Georgia Legislators, Speak Up Now, join ICM. And educate your neighbors.
